Straw yellow color with pale green reflections when held in the light. Lemon curd, fresh lemon, jasmine and other white flowers on the nose with more lemon and a touch of honey on the palate.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: The perfect way to start 12 Nights of Wine. Wash away the lingering Gingerbread Spiced, Pumpkin Spiced, Fermented Turmeric or whatever kind of lattes that got you through your hectic day and prepare your palate for the next 11 stunning wines.
A traditional wine with a touch of modernity! Black forest fruit like blackberries and blueberries and chocolate covered cherries with oak providing an elegant aroma of toffee and sweet violets. Fleshy on the palate with good acidity and loads more of those rich forest berries. A fun wine for both new wine drinkers and traditionalists!
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Light meats, lightly spiced dark meats and dark spiced fall scented candles. Be sure to savor this one - or not. It’s the holidays, so you do you.
Light green in color with a richness to the nose. Notes of grapefruit, caramelized passion fruit, a touch of vanilla and some Pear Williams' as well. The fruits translate to the palate with a freshness that's balanced by minerality and fruitiness.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Just close your eyes and think of that warm weather vacation coming up. Oh, and get some spicy take-out to pair with this wine. Spicy seafood tacos would complete the mental vacation.
Made from the native Italian grape Pignoletto, this fresh wine drinks with big Yellow Delicious apple notes and hints of pomegranate, hazelnut and almond. Dry, crisp and weighty enough to enjoy with food.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Easy and satisfying, like walking on crunchy Autumn leaves. Expertly tested and proven to expedite the wrapping of presents though sometimes with a touch less-tidy results. (They’re just going to rip it open anyways…)
Château Donjon’s flagship bottling has powerful aromas of ripe black fruits like plum and berry with strawberry and raspberry taking over next. Very dense on the palate with concentrated dark cherry flavors and structured, developing tannins.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: You won't care if everybody is smiling in the family portrait or not after drinking this wine as the complex flavors and myriad aromas will have your mind occupied for hours ;)
A sweet white that’s not cloying or dessert level. The nose is fluffy and white with marzipan and lemon laced chiffon. Dense aromas of white flowers give way to exotic fruits on the palate with a distinct honeyed note. Crisp, smooth and quite airy for a “sweet” wine!
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Pop this one in your bag and bring it to a holiday blockbuster (wait, they made another Star Wars?!) A semi-sweet white paired with movie theatre popcorn, Milkduds and a matinée is perfection.
Named after the soft yellow-colored stone that dominates the central Loire Valley and vineyards. The wine is firm and still young but softens in the glass into delicious flavors of ripe, perfumed black fruits and juicy acidity.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Think of this wine as an intermezzo, before the final five wines. This fruit forward Cab Franc pairs with pretty much everything and is a real crowd pleaser, unlike Buzz’s girlfriend. Woof.
Ripe and warm gamay perfect for cool weather with loads of acidity and a soft texture. Plummy and pleasant with prominent cherry and raspberry scents and just enough earth to remind you that it’s French.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: It may seem strange, but place this red in the fridge for a few minutes before enjoying. It'll make sense once you taste it, or at least make as much sense as the word yeet your cousin keeps shouting.
A fresh and fruity wine made from Airén. By halting fermentation of the wine earlier than normal, they were able to achieve a semi-sweet wine with good acidity, akin to the still moscato wines of Italy. Aromas of pear and banana greet you in the glass before a white-plum note and crisp Asian pear flavors round out the palate.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Just close your eyes and think of that warm weather vacation coming up. Oh, and get some spicy take-out to pair with this wine, spicy seafood tacos would complete the mental vacation.
A lean, fruit forward, almost chuggable version of Bordeaux rarely found today with light red cherry and red currant flavors. This was a difficult vintage due to rains and colder temperatures so not many 2013 wines from Bordeaux are still around, but Château Hourbanon crushed it with this vintage.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: As classic as "It's A Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve. Enjoy this last glass while getting ready for your holiday party or making final preparations for the big day.
