A 50-50 blend of local white grapes, the nose is powerful but still fresh with notes of ripe stone fruit and sweet summer hay. The palate brings a touch of grassiness before the fragrant fruitiness wallops you with ripe pear and peach.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: The perfect way to start 12 Nights of Wine. Wash away the lingering Gingerbread Spiced, Pumpkin Spiced, Fermented Turmeric or whatever kind of lattes that got you through your hectic day and prepare your palate for the next 11 stunning wines.
A balance of bright spring flowers, honeysuckle and lime zest with meyer lemon, buttery richness, candied pineapple and baked apple pie!
HOLIDAY PAIRING:Easy and satisfying, like walking on crunchy Autumn leaves. Expertly tested and proven to expedite the wrapping of presents though sometimes with a touch less-tidy results. (They’re just going to rip it open anyways…)
A very attractive vintage for wines from Graves, 2014 produced wines with Big fruit and firm tannins. Big black plum and cassis with baked raspberry, blackberry sorbet and a clean, precise finish with just enough grip. Also, currently the only certified Organic winery in Pessac-Leognan.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Cheese and crackers! Take out the Boursin and salty crackers or strong blue and fruit preserves and make it a “fancy” night. You deserve it.
Clear yellow in the glass with first scents of pear, white peach and nectarine. The mouth changes as those ripe fruits are replaced by ripe citrus and crisp, fresh acidity. Enough texture to carry all of those flavors along with their aromatic density though the palate with whispers of spicy white pepper on the finish. Crisp, clean and mineral - Chablis!
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Think of it as an intermezzo, before the final five wines. This French Chardonnay pairs with pretty much everything and is a crowd pleaser, unlike Buzz’s girlfriend. Woof.
Red peach, peach blossom and vanilla tinged red fruit, like powdered sugar covered berry melange. A touch oxidative from time in barrel gives more complexity and officially categorizes this as a “Winter Rosé.”
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Use that discount code you’ve been holding onto for your favorite food ordering app and add some hot Thai or Indian takeout to your cart. This somewhat weighty rosé (it’s just winter weight!) is beautiful with spicy food.
Sweet rainier cherries, spiced wild berry bramble, ripe strawberries, silky-soft tannins. Grown on Mount Brouilly, named after Brulius, a famous Roman lieutenant stationed in the area some 2,000 years ago.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: I know it seems strange, but place this red in the fridge for a few minutes before enjoying. It'll make sense once you taste it, or at least make as much sense as the word yeet your cousin keeps shouting.
Wine aged sous-voile, or under the delicate flor veil of yeast like sherry or vermouth! This intentionally oxidized Chardonnay blend is polarizing to say the least, but any fans of Sherry will be doing backflips out of excitement. The nose is savory and sweet, like soy sauce coated cashews in a field of citrus flowers. The palate is a cacophony of flavors and experiences: spice, freshness, fatness, acidity, nuttiness, perfume and a hint of creaminess.
HOLIDAY PAIRING: The bold aromas of the wine do well to help drown out the sounds of family arguing, children demanding dino-shaped chicken nuggets, and Fortnite sounds in the background.
A big, rich Burgundy from one of our favorite lady winemakers. Complex in that amongst the normal cherry and strawberry jam notes there is a strong whisper of Dr. Pepper and Cola flavors - almost cherry cola or fig like. Have no fear, the feminine touch is present in that the wine finishes light and airy!
HOLIDAY PAIRING: Paired best with Disney movies, oversized sweaters and oversized wine glasses.
The most well-known Nebbiolo region, and for good reasons. Released 4 full years after harvest, 3 of those spent in oak, Barolo is a powerhouse of rich rose and anise aromas and mouth-drying tannins. The paradox is that all of this is contained within a seemingly light wine; brambly underbrush, wet leather, tart cherry, rose hip tea and primordial Earth are all here. Oh, and tons and tons of enjoyable fruit on top of those gripping, addictive tannins. The King Of Italy!
HOLIDAY PAIRING: As classic as "It's A Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve. Enjoy this last glass while getting ready for your holiday party or making final preparations for the big day. Happy Holidays from all of us here at VINEBOX. You got this!
