Night 1

Priorat, Spain

50% Grenache, 35% carignan, 10% syrah, 5% cabernet



Tastes like

The silky tannins of the wine are wrapped around a core of bright red currant fruit and cherry cordial flavors. Pomegranate, spiced toffee and even a touch of mandarin orange frame the finish. 12 months in a combination of French and American oak lends subtle spice and tames the tannins.

Red wine paella, ribs, tart fruit salads

Carthusian Monks tended the vines here for almost 700 years from 1163 when they formed the Cartoxia s'Escaladei Priory until 1835 when lands were claimed by the state and redistributed. Escaladei means "ladder to god" in Latin

Albariño



Tastes like

A tasty single vineyard select Albariño that's straw yellow in color and boasting a complex bouquet of orange blossom, white flowers, sugar torched grapefruit and beeswax. The palate is juicy and fresh with lychee, peach, almond, tangerine and pear flavors harmoniously blending together with the floral aromas.

Chinese takeout, rice dishes, leafy green salads

A hip Spanish region producing crisp wines made from the local grape Albariño. Nestled in the Northwest in Galicia, it's so lush and green it looks more akin to Ireland than Spain and receives over 3x the national average for annual rainfall.

Tempranillo, Merlot



Tastes like

Cherry red in color with powerful expressions of terroir. A true mountain wine with mountain flavors - dark berries and ripe strawberry and a huge violet petal note. Lengthy finish with persisting flavors.

TikTok feta pasta, grilled halloumi with lemon and herbs, bruschetta

Respect for nature is an obsession at Tandem. We follow the precepts of sustainable viticulture which uses the least intervention possible while at the same time maintaining the vineyard’s health and viability. The natural conditions of the valley ensure that pesticide treatments can be kept to the minimum and they basically take the form of sulphur and copper, avoiding products made of synthetic chemicals.

Costeres de Segre, Spain

Grapes --50% Tempranillo, 30% grenache, 20% Cabernet



Tastes like

A fun nose full of strawberry and cherry aromas and hints of violet, almost like adult Kool-Aid. Clean fruit flavors on the palate with red berries leading the pack and light floral notes playing in the background. More body than you would think from the nose, but enough acidity to balance it out and make for an easy to drink elegant wine with substantial length!

Pasta with any sauce, cold cut sandos, tacos with mango salsa

Tastes like

Black forest fruit like blackberries and blueberries and chocolate covered cherries with oak providing an elegant aroma of toffee and sweet violets. Fleshy on the palate with good acidity and loads more of those rich forest berries.

Grilled tuna, flat top burgers, Korean BBQ

In the 1980's overplanting and harvesting led to watery wines with blown up price tags. This led winemakers to begin to experiment with more oak in the wines and longer ripening times leading to the big, bold, spicy Rioja wines we know and love today.

Tastes like

Earthy vanilla and ripe blackberry and plum are framed by cigar box like space and sweet hints of toffee and nutmeg.

Crock pot roasts, mature cheeses, mole sauces

With the 1965 harvest, the Estola brand was launched, the flagship of the winery and the first Reserve wine in La Mancha, which very soon would attract the attention of the specialist critics and personalities. FYI: a Gran Reserva has been aged for at least 5 years, with at least 18 months in oak.

Tastes like

A tropical fruit basket of pineapple, ripe melon and a touch of banana. All these flavors translate to the palate but remain as refreshing as a fruity, dry white tea.

Night 8

Navarra, Spain

40% Tempranillo, 40% cabernet, 20% merlot



Tastes like

Deep dark cherry color with a light purple hue, the nose reflects those colors with notes of ripe red cherry and sweet balsamic. Multilayered and elegant with a floral background that mimics the color of the wine once again - lavender, peony and lily.

Stuffed shell pasta, easy casseroles, roast lamb

Tastes like

Lean and citrusy on the nose with lime zest, tarragon and nectarine. Dry yet fruity on the palate with juicy fruit flavors of ripe lemon, honeydew, summer jasmine and white peach.

Believe it or not, Rioja is still rebounding from the effects of WWI, WWII and the Spanish Civil War. Country wide hunger led the government to tear up vineyards to plant wheat to feed the populace. It wasn't until the 1960's that vines got replanted into the vineyards, and in 1970 Rioja had "a vintage of the century!" that firmly put them on the modern winemaking map where they've firmly been ever since.

85% Garnacha blanca, 15% Montònega



Tastes like

A touch of oak aging adds baking spice to the apple and apricot notes while aromas of walnut and hazelnut evoke thoughts of warm fruit pies. A finish of honey and dried fruits with a dash of lime keeps it dry.

Pairs with

Pesto sauce, Chicken Mirabella, yakitori

Catalunya is home to Penedes, the heart of Cava country in Spain. Although Cava is the focus here, growers have started to find success with still wines in all colors and styles. Typically these wines are enjoyed within Spain but this year we all get to taste them!

100% garnacha



Tastes like

Raspberry and wild strawberry, together with herb aromas like oregano and thyme. Soft and velvety in the mouth finishing with freshness and vibrancy and a lingering note of sweet herbs.

Charcuterie plates, rotisserie chicken, paella

Puglia, Italy

Sangiovese, Aglianico



Tastes like

Notes of wild strawberry and freshly smashed mulberry with little hints of almond tart and blood orange. Fresh yet structured on the palate, like biting into a juicy handful of berries. A slight saline finish keeps the wine light on its feet and super easy to drink.

Spaghetti and vegan meatballs, pizza, chicken-and-veg situations
