Hand selected from the south of France

Crushed thyme accents ripe cherry fruit in this full-bodied, moderately rich wine that ends with a dusting of velvety tannins.

Côtes du Rhône wines come from the Southern tip of the Rhône valley, closer to the esteemed Châteauneuf-du-Pape commune than neighbors from the North such as Saint Joseph. Cultivated by the Romans centuries ago, the Rhône valley produces phenomenal wines up and down the Rhône River.

Directions

Slow cooker beef stew is perfect for weekends. Start it in the morning and go about your day as usual. By late afternoon, the aroma of rich and delicious beef stew will pervade your home. You'll be ready to curl up with a hearty bowl and enjoy alongside a glass of your favorite red from VINEBOX.

  1. Combine beef, celery, carrots, onion, potatoes, salt, pepper, garlic, parsley, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and tomato paste in the crock pot. I used a 6 qt crockpot for this stew. Cook on LOW for 10 hours or on HIGH for 6-7 hours.

  2. About 30 minutes before serving, mix the flour and the water together in a small dish and pour into the crockpot. Mix until well combined. This will add a nice thickness to the stew. Next add in your frozen peas and corn. Continue cooking covered for 30 minutes.

  3. Wrap yourself up in a blanket, sit in front of the fireplace and let the flames warm your feet as this stew warms your soul.

Vineyard History

”Experience level 100”

From as early as 125 BC and well into the Middle Ages and Renaissance, there have been records kept of wines being produced in the Rhône. Royal decrees in the 18th century mandated that outgoing barrels of wine produced along the right bank of the Côte du Rhône be stamped with the letters "CDR" to mark its quality and origin. It wasn't until the 19th century that left bank wines were also included in this designation, which was renamed Côte du Rhône. The region eventurally received its full AOC in 1937.
